  • They believe journalism should be accessible to anyone of any background (their ethos is equality, liberalism)
  • They want their content to be accessible to everyone 
  • Open to anyone regardless of how much money they earn 
  • Don't want people to feel like they cam't read the content 
  • funded by contributors (weekly/monthly/annually) also ads in newspaper (People can fund however much they want to contribute
  • Advantage of them not having a paywall? all journalistic stories are accessible
  • Called the guardian, on sunday it's the observer (because traditionally the sunday newspaper used to always be more political. 
  • ABC1 - middle class progressives (cultured people who like change)
  • About £1.60 for subscribers and £3.20 for non subscribers (?)

  • Newspapers are commonly owned by one specific person (millionaire) not conglomerate
  • commonly not for financial gain, more to spread their political opinions 
  • Owners are not suppost to interfere with the political beliefs shown in the newspaper. Instead, they hire journalists with the same political beliefs as them.

- Target audience middle class (middle class adverts e.g.. theatre, higher end shops)
