Image
Audience Who are the products targeting?  children who play with lego Adults who played with lego when they were younger Families Young adult cinema-goers Both genders Audience demographics G ender R ace A ge C lass E thnicity 2. Adults who played with lego when they were younger  The lego movie advertising campaign targets adults who played with lego when they were younger. Warner bro's targets this audience by making everything in the trailer appear like it's made of lego, including the buildings, floor, people and furniture. This would give adults memories of their childhood fun in building lego cities, and spark some curiosity in the Lego movie as they identify their childhood with the main concept represented in the advertising campaign, (Lego)! -Nostalgia as adults played with the yellow figures and these feature heavily. -40-60 year olds -Character benny is the first ever original lego figure who features in the main poster ...

Narrative & Genre

Todorov's Narrative Theory .... apply this theory to the trailer.... not the film!!!! Equilibrium: The normality and equal state of characters. Emmet is shown on the sofa watching tv Disruption: something breaks tat normality President business makes an announcement that "you will be put to sleep" Recognition of disruption: The characters realise something has gone wrong eg.. "wait did he just say put to sleep?"  "Destroy him"... from his perspective he's realised people are against him Attempt to repair the damage: The characters try to solve the problem eg...  "There is only one me"  "He would rather die"... standing up for everyone New equilibrium: problem is solved, new equilibrium is established Why is this stage of the narrative not shown? Genre The lego movie advertising campaign is an example of genre hybridity = When a film mixes elements of different genres. Lego Movie = sci-fi...

Lego Trailer Analysis How has media language been used to create meaning in the Lego Movie advertising campaign? In your answer, you must talk about the poster campaign and the trailer (10 marks)  In the poster campaign, the Emmet poster consists of the character (Emmet) zoomed into his face, with a scared, screaming expression. Emmet has a stereotypical representation of an average white man. He was brown straight hair, yellow skin (representing the white ethnicity) and a builders outfit. The background consists of an average blue empty sky, filled with cranes and scaffolding. Cranes and scaffolding have connotations of a building sight, so this background reinforces the representation of Emmet through Mise-en-scene. Whilst, Emmet is represented as an average, uninteresting, non important man; the fact that he is the only character on a whole poster, and is zoomed in on (making him the focus), has a lot of meaning. It gives out a message that anyone can ...

Advertising Campaign Audience

The target audience for this poster is a broad range; from nostalgic adults reminiscing over their childhood with lego, to children who still play with the toys, all the way to the regular cinema go-ers.  The younger audience may view Emmet, a normal person on a poster as inspiration. They can learn from it that despite career choice, everyone is still valid and important. This could mean that they see more inspiration in their parents or other citizens, who are also most-likely not superhero's, and view everyone with equal importance.

Lego Movie  :  Lord Business ( villain) is the President of Lego Land, who presides over a dictatorial state. His regime creates virtually everything in the Lego society and he uses televised broadcasts to inform his citizens (with a friendly grin on his face) that they’ll be executed if they disobey. He controls a secret police, who is charged with torturing dissidents and rebels. Set product:  This is reflected in one of the film’s posters.  Lord Business is towering over the oth...
